What's a ditloid?

A phrase, title or fact squashed down to its numbers and initials. Your job is to unsquash it. The name comes from the most famous one:

One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich

Numbers are numbers, capitals are the first letters of words, and the small linking words are usually written out. So:

Playing

  • Type the whole phrase. Close spellings count, and you can write numbers as digits or words, or leave them out: the clue gives them away.
  • Stuck? Take the hint. It still counts as solved, and your streak keeps going.
  • Giving up shows the answer, but on the ditloid of the day it ends your streak.
  • A new ditloid of the day starts at midnight, UK time.
  • Missed a day? This week’s are free to play. They don’t affect your streak.
  • Every past ditloid is on the trail, ten to a page. Solve 7 on a page to open the next. You can give up on 3 per page.
